Part-Time Staff

South Suburban Special Recreation Association (SSSRA) provides recreation programs for individuals with disabilities throughout 7 park districts and 3 recreation and parks departments. Individuals, ages 2 through adulthood, can participate in arts & crafts, music programs, drama, special events, Special Olympics, and a variety of other programs with the necessary adaptations. In addition to SSSRA’s own programming, individuals can participate in park district and recreation department programs with the assistance of an Inclusion Aide.

SSSRA is currently hiring for the following part-time positions:

Recreation Leaders for weekly programs and special events
Recreation Supervisors
Special Olympics Coaches
Drivers
Sign Language Interpreters

Hourly rate starts at $13.77 and we offer a flexible schedule.

Part-time staff must be at least 16 years of age or 15 years of age with a work permit. Drivers must be 21 years or older with a valid driver’s license and complete a driver abstract.

Part-Time Inclusion Aides

Are you looking for a part-time job with a purpose? SSSRA is looking for enthusiastic and responsible Inclusion Aides to assist with a wide variety of recreation programs for all ages and abilities. Inclusion Aides are responsible for supporting and assisting one or more individuals with a disability to be successful in a traditional park district recreation program.

Summer Day Camp Staff

SSSRA is now hiring Summer Day Camp Recreation Leaders. Summer Day Camp offers our participants activities such as crafts, games, sports, days spent playing at the pool, and field trips. Summer Day Camp Recreation Leaders are responsible for assisting in implementing daily activities for individuals with disabilities. Under the supervision of the Day Camp Site Supervisor, your job is to help create a safe and fun environment for all the campers each day.

Volunteers

We are seeking help in meeting the needs of people with disabilities in the south suburbs. You know first-hand the positive influences SSSRA services have provided to area families. SSSRA programs and activities improve physical and mental health, develop self-esteem, enhance and foster social skills and help residents be a part of the community.

Every year SSSRA strives to provide quality programs and services to meet the growing needs and demands of the communities we serve. We are asking that you help us explore ways you, your employer/company, your extended families, or friends can support SSSRA. With your support we will continue to make a difference in the lives of many people.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age.

Internships

SSSRA offers internships and fieldwork experience opportunities year round to college students majoring in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Administration or other related fields. Each experience is constructed to prepare the student for their professional career by combining practical, hands on learning with their educational backgrounds according to SSSRA and university requirements.
